The Hamilton School at Wheeler specializes in teaching students who are challenged in reading, organization and study skills due to dyslexia, ADHD and other learning disorders. Founded in 1988, the specialized school has served elementary and middle school children who have strong cognitive abilities but struggle with learning differences. Hamilton faculty believe that students can learn important skills and meet high expectations. Hamilton’s class sizes are small, ranging from four to 10 students. The instructors use specialized methods to teach writing skills, reading and math. Focus is put on language arts to help students expand their skills in reading, decoding and fluency, handwriting, spelling, grammar and written expression. Students at the Hamilton School are fully integrated with students from the Wheeler School during art and music classes, lunch and recess periods, field trips and after-school sports. In 2019, the Rhode Island legislature presented commendations to Hamilton students and young alumni who testified on behalf of legislation for dyslexic students in the state.

We do not have gym class, we are not being prepared for high school, the teachers put us in a bubble and pretend that the world has no problems. If you have a kid who is dyslexic my advice is to send them to Hamilton until 6th grade then send them to wheeler, Moses Brown, Providence Country Day , or any other school. They are extremely liberal witch would not be a problem until you have a different opinion witch then you get yelled at and your grade is affected

We absolutely love Hamilton. If you're the parent of a dyslexic child, this is the place.
