School One is a place where curiosity, creativity and individualism thrive. This progressive, private high school enrolls only about 100 scholars at a time. Having an average size of about 10 students, classrooms take on the look and feel of a small college seminar. The school shapes its courses to complement their interests, with debate, discussion and participation standard features of the curriculum. Kids don’t have to be artists to attend School One. Any interested students can take advantage of the artistic offerings such as ceramics, animation, photography and video production. An end-of-year art show even enables students to show off and sell their work. Students complete 1,000 hours of community service each year – some of that time spent working at a food bank or building a house with Habitat for Humanity – while attending the school. School One also offers a robust internship program, with roughly 60 organizations participating. Students, alums and community members are welcome to attend the school’s Literary Center, where writers from across the region offer workshops and classes.

School One is small but mighty. It offers a challenging and creative liberal arts curriculum that invites students to explore their interests and discover their passions within a supportive community. It has been the perfect educational setting for my student, and it has been a joy to watch him discover his strengths and develop confidence.

School One is a gem...a place where students and staff get to be themselves, learn from each other, choose classes, and be supported by an intimate community.

School One is a great school. Due to the smaller size the staff is able to really get to know the students and help them develop to there fullest potential. The course offerings are challenging and interesting. What really makes School One successful is the mutuel respect between the staff and stude...

School One has been our daughter's salvation. The teachers encourage students to excel, but are accepting of individual differences. They encourage students to become critical thinkers. Since starting at School One, my daughter enjoys going to school and has not asked me to home school her, somethin...

The one thing missing from a lot of schools today is the mentoring relationship fostered through the commitment to the student AS THEY ARE. You can only build with what you have and growth can only occur when we start with what we have. School One staff know what their students have. They know where...
