SouthSide Elementary Charter School, serving kindergarten through 5th grade, provides a personalized school experience for students in a small school setting. Teachers attempt to meet individual student needs academically, socially, and emotionally. Academics are comparatively rigorous. Students are expected to set goals, work hard to meet those goals, and overcome any challenges they might encounter. This all, in turn, helps to develop a collaborative and respectful learning environment. In its own school survey, 94% of family respondents reported their children enjoyed attending the school, and 98% indicated that staff has respect for students and students have respect from staff. Finally, the school's physical education classes combine, yoga and mindfulness with martial arts, gymnastics and dance to give students a variety of creative ways to stretch and move. In 2021, the school received "The BOKS Defenders of Physical Activity Award" which provided $10,000 worth of equipment and resources to further enhance the school’s innovative PE program.
