Enrolling approximately one thousand students in grades pre-kindergarten through sixth, P.S. 150Q Sunnyside is a coeducational public elementary school with a sixteen-to-one student-teacher ratio. The school’s solid building of quoined orange brick dates from 1931 and stands at the corner of 41st Street and 43rd Avenue. Younger students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten attend classes at the nearby Annex on 44th Street, a facility with its own cafeteria and playground. In the main school, and in addition to General Education courses, a full range of approaches are on offer: dual-language classes in English and Spanish, a Gifted and Talented program, and multilingual lessons when English is a second language. Students with individual education programs benefit from integrated co-teaching and special needs classrooms. All general education classes employ targeted curriculums: the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project for English studies, enVisions for math, plus Amplify Science and Passport to Social Studies. In addition, the faculty at P.S. 150Q Sunnyside are trained in social-behavioral approaches such as Samford Harmony, aimed at helping young students to smoothly adjust to the school environment. Specialty lessons in art, drama, music, technology and physical education are naturally integrated into the school day. Enrichment programs include chorus, band, student council, an annual Art Expo, an annual musical, Chess in the Schools, Technology Club, and a Green Team that supports the school’s recycling efforts.

Omg save ur child's future and find him/ her a good school. Very negative and unprofessional environment. They expect kids to walk around like robots or else something is wrong with ur child. Principal has no clue about how to run a school. She's nowhere to be found. If you go to the main office her assistants are very rude except for 1 lady who seemed to care.

I have two kids currently at this school. The teachers definitely make this school. They have been supportive and encouraging with both my kids. Even though the class size is crazy, we feel that the teachers have been proactive in maintaining communication regarding our kids progress. I do agree wit...

Hi, I am a parent of two students in this school. It used to be a great school, until the past 2-3 years. In few words, this school will indoctrinate your kids into their one-sided mentality, with the teachers ( most of them ) being ideologues This school will teach your children on what to think an...
