GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Northside is a decent school. Every teacher I've had has been lovely, but I don't know about other teachers. There's a new no headphone rule that makes it hard to do work, so that's not nice. Custodial staff work very hard to keep the school clean, and they're so kind. Just about all of the staff are amazing as well. Northside overall is one of the better Roanoke County high schools.

Northside was a little messy. Honestly, I feel like it never helped me get where I am today. My college is doing a far better job at that, high school was just there and half the stuff we learned won't really be useful where I am heading. The school was dirty, and while some teacher's were amazing, others weren't. The school lunch was, and still is concerning and not healthy. Prom was fun, but where did half that money go after? I did somewhat like it, but it didn't live up to what I imagined and doesn't seem as preppy as other schools do.

The best aspects about Northside is that everyone is treated like family. Going to Northside made me feel like I was a part of something special and I never felt left out.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Northside! We moved from Hidden Valley and are absolutely satisfied! The school staff is excellent and Mr.Dent and Mrs. Franklin are truly gems in this school. They take an active, honest interest in the students and stay in touch with them to guide them along the way. My past exp...

Northside is a great school! I attended Northside for two years - eleventh and twelfth grades- and I loved it. I had the luxury of attending during the renovations, but it only made being there more interesting. I attended three different schools in two different school systems before coming to NHS...
