If you happen to glance up while touring the halls of Pflugerville’s Caldwell Elementary School, you’ll see colorfully painted tiles adorning the ceiling. This one-of-a-kind mosaic is a tribute to fifth graders who’ve graduated. New tiles are added every year. Honoring achievement is the norm at Caldwell. The school was named for a trailblazer, Fannie Mae Caldwell. Caldwell was the daughter of a formerly enslaved person who became a beloved Pflugerville teacher in the 1920s. While at Caldwell Elementary School, students learn the fundamentals of reading, math, science and social studies in accordance with Pflugerville Independent School District’s academic standards. As one of only a handful of dual-language campuses in the district, many students both English and Spanish classes. The school’s jump rope team and dance club keep students moving. Young artists share their masterpieces in a fine arts showcase and compete in an annual pumpkin decorating contest. A parade of cultures, Día de los Muertos event, and a special focus on Black History Month are some of the ways the school celebrates its background. At Caldwell Elementary Schools, students are encouraged to work hard, create and innovate. They learn to remember and honor their predecessors and to leave a legacy of their own.

I regret to express my disappointment with the assistant principal Elizabeth Schuster's parent communications skills. In a recent phone conversation, I encountered a disheartening incident where Elizabeth Schuster spoke to me disrespectfully and abruptly hung up in my face. As a parent, I believe th...

La califico con un 3 porque puedes tener la suerte de encontrar una excelente maestra en un curso y la desdicha de una pésima y antipedagogica maestra el otro, como me sucedió. Lo que hizo una lo destruyó la siguiente...

I have mixed feelings about this school. However overall I see that they might have room for improvement, and they are willing to make a effort to make a change. As in any school I think that as a parent it is part of my job to be involved in my child's education. Parents must be willing to be invol...
