My experience at Shrine was not good and I would not recommend it to anyone. I will say that do prepare their students for college pretty well but the things the students have to go through is truly not worth it. Such as the building does not have air conditioning and very little heat. So in the winter I saw the classroom at 57 degrees and in the summer I have seen the room at 84. This is truly unbearable and nobody can succeed in that environment. Some teachers are good but there is definitely a lot who are not understand which results in bad relationships with them. Another problem a lot of students had was that the teachers loved to share and push their politics on us minus a few of them. If you are an athlete like I was this is not the place that you should go. They truly just don't have the equipment for their programs to succeed. So while there is good people there my experience was that there was enough bad ones which created a very toxic learning environment.

I hated my experience. There was the usual bad-smelling school, crowded hallways. But then there was religion class where conservative ideals were pushed on us daily and we learned more about politics than we ever did in government or economics.

Shrine is a very small school and can be clicky sometimes, but has a great environment and is welcoming. There will always be groups throughout high school but you can find your lifelong best friends at Shrine that will be there for you. Teachers want the best for you and will work with you. They will work with you and will do whatever it takes to help you succeed the most. The counseling department works one on one with you. They will be there when you need help with anything. When it comes to college they work with you one on one and will help you through the process.

Shrine High School in Royal Oak has a lack of organization. Their classrooms and the teachers themselves are unorganized.
