Designated a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, Phoebe A. Hearst Elementary serves kindergarten through sixth-grade students living in East Sacramento. Located on the eastern side of the neighborhood, the school has been welcoming generations of families since 1958. Phoebe Hearst Elementary serves about 600 students and follows a rigorous academic structure that includes math, language arts and technology. A gifted and talented program is offered as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The school fosters strong partnerships with parents, who volunteer in classrooms and help out with book fairs. The Phoebe’s Garden program is woven into the academics, helping children connect to their environment while teaching team building. Other amenities include field trips, an art studio and a theatre program to satisfy all the little artists and actors! After-school enrichment classes provide students an additional opportunity for learning, creating a well-rounded academic environment that families in East Sacramento can be proud of. Phoebe Hearst is fully fenced, with locked gates, during school hours.

My daughter has been at Phoebe for 2 years. This is not a neighborhood school and a child has to be tested to be accepted into kindergarten. For this reason, it is not a school where there are many kids with learning disabilities or kids who are neuro-diverse. I don’t think the school emphasizes too...

My son attended K-3rd grade at Phoebe Hearst. It is a great school if you want a school that heavily focused on academics and high score in common core standards.
