Established in 1895, St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School sits in the heart of Midtown, Sacramento’s eclectic urban neighborhood. 327 students, ranging from Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade, proudly attend this private institution. Each class is comprised of no more than 36 students, and the 18 teachers on staff foster a supportive learning environment. Most notable about St. Francis is its International Baccalaureate program, which aims to develop globally minded individuals who create a more collaborative world. In addition to core subjects like Mathematics and Language Arts, the IB curriculum weaves in Music, Technology Literacy, and Physical Education to broaden students’ skill sets. St. Francis attendees have a diverse selection of extracurriculars in which to partake, most notably the Chess Club and Majorettes. For the athletically inclined, the school provides offerings such as Little Dribblers for younger students, and volleyball, football, and co-ed golf for 5th-8th graders. Parents praise St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School for its communicative administration, as well as the well-roundedness it instills in students. The campus’ credibility is underscored by its dual accreditation from the Western Association for Schools and Colleges, an organization that ensures equity and success for students under its jurisdiction. St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School received its moniker from the 12th century Italian friar, the patron saint for animals and ecology. The school’s blue and gold crest represents tranquility, harmony, hope, and joy—values that guide students on their inner and outer journey to becoming the best versions of themselves.

We have all three of our children at St. Francis and could not be happier with our choice. The teachers and administrators are all top notch. The academics are great, without being overwhelming to grade schoolers. Everyone has been friendly and supportive.

After sending two daughters to St. Francis I've have nothing but praise for the school. While no school is 'perfect', St. Francis far exceeded my expectations when the rare issue occurred. Outstanding administration, teachers and staff.

The feeling when you walk onto the campus is one of warmth and enthusiasm. I am lucky to be part of this w...

Things have changed dramatically in the last 3 or 4 years. Poor communication between staff and parents, no follow ups. Children are overwhelmed with homework and tests and material is not review appropriately in class. When teachers fall behind then children are burden with too much even weekends....

St. Francis Elementary is a wonderful place for children to learn. The teachers are excellent. The 6th grade teacher earned her Ph.D - and no she did not ask the kids to address her as "Doctor XXXX". A very warm, nurturing environment that pushes the students academically but somehow manages not to...
