John Burroughs School is a private college preparatory school serving 660 students in grades seven through 12. The core curriculum encompasses STEM, humanities, health and wellness, the arts, athletics, global awareness, and service and sustainability. All students participate in some aspect of the school’s arts program, which includes drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and photography. Students at all grade levels also participate in theater, music, and dance productions. For athletic opportunities, the school offers 19 sports activities in which students may participate. And for other extra-curricular activities, the school offers more than four dozen clubs, including literary magazine and high-mileage vehicle clubs. Beyond-the-classroom experiences round out these academic opportunities to give students unique educational encounters. The school’s 40-acre wilderness camp in the Ozarks, featuring cabins, a lodge, a pavilion, and miles of trails, provides an ideal space for outdoor education programs, biology field research, and service outings. Both at the camp and in the Ladue area, students engage in dozens of service projects throughout the school year in support of the greater St. Louis community. With a 49-acre campus featuring state-of-the-art facilities and strong academic opportunities, John Burroughs school has received an A+ grade from Niche and was ranked by Niche as #1 for Best Private High Schools in Missouri.

Reading through some of the reviews I have seen people say it isn't possible to be a competitive athlete outside of school here. When I was a student many of my friends played college sports and were multi sport athletes in high school. The academics push you to your limit but they are not too much to handle. I met some of my best friends while at school here and wouldn't trade my time here for anything.

I am a student at John Burroughs School. It is everything I could have hoped for. All the students and faculty are kind and, as was previously said, you can really "geek out" with anyone from the school. It is a wonderful opportunity to go to this school. Although the admissions process is rigorous...
