St. Roch parish is a staple of the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood, the church and school of the same name have been located there for more than a century. The private pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school teaches an advanced curriculum combining STEM skills with traditional learning, which is enhanced by Spanish, art, music and physical education. Faculty work together, and coordinate instruction across all grades in all subjects. A full-time learning consultant provides additional education, assisting students with organization, study skills and test taking strategies. The school offers before care and after care for all students, with many options for extracurricular activities after school hours. Students can take part in chess club, robotics, art, music, math, science and traditional athletics. While the school has a historic background, it is very much in the 21st century with digital smart boards and tablets for students in every classroom. A student teacher ratio of ten to one, and class sizes of 17, provide students with personalized attention which contributes to their success. In fact, St. Roch Catholic School graduates have a 100 percent acceptance rate into their first choice high school.

We had a very poor experience in our time with St. Roch. If you are considering sending your children there note that, in the past, this school has had severe deficits in leadership that led to staff and faculty quarrels and an inability to design a unified approach to education, especially in the early childhood portion of the school.

We have one daughter who has graduated from St. Roch and is thriving in high school very much due to the preparedness from St. Roch. Our younger daughter is still at St. Roch and loves it. She mos...

The curriculum is well-thought-out and learning differences are supported. My kids have loads of friends and beg to stay for aftercare, to hang out. This school i...

We had a very bad experience with this school and would strongly recommend that potential parents ask what has been done at the school to address the leadership void and in-fighting that was a staple of this school during our time there.
