STEAM at the Fine Arts Academy is a part of the Edgewood Independent School District. Starting in the 2022 – 2023 school year the Academy will serve students in ninth through twelfth grades. As an open boundary school district, the Academy offers a unique opportunity for students within Los Jardines and the greater Bexar County area to receive a progressive education in the liberal and fine arts. The Academy is a part of Edgewood’s Schools of Innovation, which offers students a diverse portfolio of educational institutions with a dynamic set of educational programs. The district has defined innovation zones consisting of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, fine arts, early childhood, leadership and public service. The academic offerings at the school include focuses on the theatrical arts from both technical and artistic perspectives, music education, graphic arts and training in vocational areas like welding and cosmetology. The sciences are not ignored as computer science, robotics and engineering are among available course selections. There are also programs in manufacturing and computer integrated manufacturing. The Academy offers an extremely diverse set of course offerings with the intent of finding every individual’s niche in a complex and evolving world. With a student body of approximately 300, individual attention and mentoring are high priorities.

As of now, I believe my teachers have put me in a position where I am certainly prepared for college, however for future generations there has to be an increase in the number of teachers attending at my school. So many minds ready to learn but to few teachers to pass down that knowledge.
