GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

i've been at great hearts since 2014 and i would gladly say that i would enroll my kids there if i had any. there education is fenomenal and since its a small community everyone knows and has a bond with there whole class! although there are things that i would like great hearts to improve on, i think overall the school is fantastic and i will never say otherwise!

It is a good school for preparing for college. The academics and curriculum are fantastic. The downside is there is a lot of teacher turnover and admin doesn't handle a lot of situations as they should. Many students leave each year too. If you want the "high school experience," great hearts is not for you.

The school is small and there are social cliques but it's normal to see that at any school. Students who keep their heads down and do not attempt to have fun can fly under the radar and avoid getting in trouble. Jokes or anything that the staff thinks are distracting are stopped. Students get reprimanded during morning break for throwing the football around or during the day for laughing in the halls or waving at a friend in another class. They are too strict on some things and not strict enough on other things. The classes are okay. The teachers have a high turn over rate so it's frustrating to have one teacher before Christmas and another after the break. The school does grade on sense of wonder and it is frustrating and contributes to a large portion of our grade. Sense of wonder is subjective to how the teacher feels about a student. During seminars the same students talk over each other without the teacher interjecting and it is not worth yelling to be heard over them.

I went to great hearts from 5th grade-12 grade. There truly are some good teachers but the school was too conforming for many of their student including me. I have two main issues-with them. First was the blatant favoritism. If you are not the top donor, a good chunk of the teachers won’t help your...

The first few years at Great Hearts were encouraging. Our children learned, made friends, and enjoyed each day. 2022 brought changes in leadership at the upper school campus that negatively impacted the students, parent community, and the school's environment. The school is small, and it became clea...

I attended this school for 6 years and did end up graduating from GHNO. As a student, the school seems harsh and unjust however being able to look at it now from an outside perspective, most of the things that went on that a student would say is harsh or unjust, I now can say it was necessary to for...

I have three kids attending GHNO. The teachers and administration are very engaged and are caring. They are the best assets. They don't teach to the test but teach the history and eveolution of the subject before teaching the subject at hand. The shcool builds student character and a love of learnin...
