Holy Cross of San Antonio is a private coeducational school founded by the Brothers of the Holy Cross in 1957. Originally established as a school for boys in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, it has evolved to educate boys and girls in grades six – 12. As a college preparatory institution, all students are groomed for a collegiate education, but some students will amass up to 36 hours of college credits while at Holy Cross as a result of being involved in the Dual Credit Program. This program is the result of a robust relationship between Holy Cross and Our Lady of the Lake University. Students who do not participate in the Dual Credit Program can still acquire college credits through the Advance Placement Program. Educators work hard to foster growth following a whole-student approach focusing on body, mind and spirit. This mindset was promoted by the founder of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, Blessed Basile Moreau who stated, “The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart”. A core curriculum of Science, Social Studies, English, Mathematics, Theology, and Physical Education is taught at Holy Cross. NICHE which evaluates schools based on several core competencies, awards Holy Cross an overall above average rating.

As a transfer student I thought it was going to be hard to adjust to a bigger environment compared to my old school. But holy cross welcomed me into their family with open arms. The faculty had helped me in so many ways such as presenting me with opportunities to get involved, prepare me for college, and get me familiar with the college process. I have had so many unforgettable experiences just in the past year and a half. These experiences not only helped me grow as a student but also as a person.

I think the best part of holy cross is how close everyone is and how the school feels like family. The part that needs to change is the food. The food isn't horrible but it's not nutritional or good in any way and it used to be better.

I liked how there was one on one times to connect with the teachers. It was a small school 200 students total so everyone knew each other. It was pretty fun the coaches were all fun and helping. The college and AP programs were very limited and I wish I was able to do them to be better prepared for college that I am currently in. Sports were decent strong football program everything else was pretty average. The student involvement wasn't always the best but when it was it was great. The parents never got involved only certain parents and those you would see at everything. Overall the school wasn't the worse and it wasn't the best but we worked with what we had.
