Holy Name Catholic School is a private school that was founded in 1961 by the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity under the auspices of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The school was in direct response to community growth within the greater San Antonio area and the parishes surrounding the Highland Hills Neighborhood. The school was established with only the first and second grades initially being taught and has grown to provide an educational alternative to children grades prekindergarten – eight. With a mission of promoting academic excellence along with Catholic values, Holy Name is the perfect choice for many families. The school enrollment is comparatively small for the Highland Hills Neighborhood, affording students the opportunity to work closely with the faculty. With a core curriculum of Mathematics, Reading, English Language Arts, Science, Religion and Social Studies, Holy Name offers a solid educational foundation. Students in grades five – eight can also participate in sports activities through the Archdiocese Interscholastic Athletic League. In addition, students can participate in electives like the Alamo Arts Academy offerings in Graphic Design, Photography, Audio Engineering, and Film Production. Other electives in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Spanish are also available.

Students receive new chrome books and parents don’t have to pay for them like in other schools. Afte...

This school is incapable of making correct accommodations for students in need of a little extra help. Grown teachers compare their capabilities to eleven year old students as if they can handle the same workload. My brother in 6th grade is focused on finishing homework and doing large projects due...
