Thomas L. Hatchett Sr. Elementary School is a part of the Northside Independent School District. The school is named for former teacher Thomas L. Hatchett Sr. Hatchett spent twenty-two years in various capacities within the district serving most of those years as a teacher and finally as a board member. As a board member Hatchett was instrumental in helping pass a $495 million bond to build additional classrooms in the fast-growing school district. In the 2020 – 2021 school year Hatchett Elementary School enrolled approximately 800 students. There are 55 full-time teachers giving a student to teacher ratio of 16:1 which is below the national average. Hatchett Elementary School serves grades Pre-K through five. NICHE, which evaluates colleges and schools on several core competencies, gives Hatchett Elementary School a superior rating in the area of student body diversity. The school also is rated above average in academics. Hatchett Elementary School offers a standard curriculum of science, language arts, and mathematics to prepare students for the next level. Along with the standard curriculum Hatchett Elementary School also offers a Gifted and Talented curriculum giving students an opportunity to exercise advanced capabilities. Hatchett Elementary School is located in the western portion of San Antonio, serving neighborhoods in and around the Westover Hills Neighborhood District.

My son is constantly bullied and it is constantly being reported but nothing is ever done. Kids wander around all the time. The students spend most days watching movies like goosebumps and the teacher has trouble teaching. The students talk over the teacher Anderson lesson plans are never made in ad...

The principal, the teachers, the staff; everyone is very caring. I'll be sad when my daughter has to leave after 5th grade. I highly recommend
