GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have been a student there for all 4 years and I am pleased to say that I have made many memories and have high praises and I give them credit for my college journey and always supporting me and helping me along the way.

Port of Los Angeles High School had great academics and some great teachers. However, there were not enough resources for queer youth of students with mental health problems. Many of the classrooms do not have windows, making the 2-hour classes extremely depressing. The students are uber competitive and will hate on others for not excelling.

The teachers are friendly and always willing to help a student individually. Since the school population is small, the class size is smaller than the average public school which is good because with that, teachers have time to answer everyone's questions. When I was there, fights were unheard of and only happened very rarely. Even if there was fights, they were usually not in the school.

I attended this POLAHS a few years ago. It completely changed my mind about what a school experience could be. Students and staff were polite, diverse, and welcoming from day one. Teachers truly care about student success. I never did better in school than when I went to POLAHS. Now, they offer hund...

I sent my son here for one year and one year only because I could not stand the horrific bullying stories I would hear from my son. My son would come home in tears sometimes from these kids. I reported to admin about the issue and nothing would change. I would reach out the the principal and had a m...

My son has autism and suffers from it. It hasn’t been easy for me and my wife. When I get a call from the school saying my son has been getting bullied it breaks me and my wife’s heart. This has been a constant thing. The teachers don’t help either. My son comes home crying everyday. I can only assu...

thsi school is awful, the kids there are rude and I have had countless bad expiriences with students from there. The classrooms are set up to distract students and learning there is barely possible.
