Founded in 1964, Cardinal Newman High School is a private, college preparatory Catholic high school in the greater Santa Rosa area, just outside Larkfield-Wikiup. Receiving an A rating from Niche, they balance striving for peak academic performance with an emphasis on community engagement. Students complete 25 hours of community service learning each year, working to meet the needs of people in the community and around the world. In a typical year, 99% of students graduate and 96% go on to a four-year college. Their sports programs frequently win championships. In the spring of 2022, the girls swim and boys track and field teams were champions of their league. The school mascot is the Cardinal, but their spirit is more reminiscent of a phoenix. Cardinal Newman’s campus was lost in the Tubbs Fire of 2017, but they’re slowly rebuilding. So far, a new state-of-the-art classroom building has been completed, and their student life center and library should be completed in 2023. Though it is a private school, they award roughly $1 million in annual financial aid to families, with about one-third receiving some amount of assistance. Tuition rates are set at 85% of actual operating costs in an effort to keep a quality education as affordable as possible. Consider Cardinal Newman, where academics and character building are foundational values.

Great school, very safe. Always looking for the wellbeing of their students. They always accommodate students with financial support.

The school itself is very good but the people there suck. It is not adverse whatsoever, and it is just not a very good atmosphere however I do know that some people like it there.

I would say the best part about Newman is the academic support you get to help with grades or college application. The worst part is some people are unsavory and sense it is a small school you can not necessarily avoid them.

Our son graduated in 2020 and was well prepared for college not only academically, but socially and ethically. He is still in college and often thanks me for allowing him the opportunity to attend a High School that teaches students about respect, religion, helping others and always doing the right...
