“Reach for the Stars” is Ashton Elementary School’s motto, and its students and staff aim to do just that every day. The public school has a reputation for academic excellence achieved by its approximately 1,000 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Outstanding students in third through fifth grades can also be rewarded by being named to the honor roll, called Soaring Superstars at Ashton. Outside of the classroom, the schoolwide accelerated reading program inspires kids to improve their literacy. Program participants earn fun pins by taking quizzes about the books they’ve read. Besides nurturing intellectual curiosity, Ashton also emphasizes the values of caring, trust, responsibility and togetherness. Teachers choose Astro Citizens every quarter—students who are positive role models, diligent workers and get along with their classmates. Students get a well-rounded education at Ashton through specialized classes like art, drama and technology and extracurricular activities such as tennis, dance and foreign language. Located in a residential area, Ashton Elementary School is convenient to the interstate and a major thoroughfare for easy drop-off and pickup.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My observation and feedback I got from other parents indicated that she tends to favor certain kids and ne...

They are acting as if this is a private school and posting on social media all the travels the teachers made during the summer. Principal sends an email saying how much she traveled all around. Not every parent can take their kids to expensive vacations. We worked all summer and sent our kids to cam...
