GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

During my time at Shawnee Mission West, I made some great friends. Some of the people are good, and most of the staff are excellent. However, we do have a problem with fighting and being able to actually travel during passing periods.

Being at SMW has had it's ups and downs. Overall, I like being a student at West because of all the people you meet. I don't like the food, or the unneeded drama.

The school is great for what it is, but it could use more funding and more student outreach programs. students are mostly left high and dry for a lot of things, including college and current schooling. there are good teachers and courses.

Terrific variety of teams, groups, sports to participate in. The parent involvement and support is outstanding. One of the pluses with...

the school as a whole is pretty nice, but the teachers are so bad, everyone I know can do nothing but complain about them. that school has caused me more grief than bullying and death combined. and that's just disgraceful. I've attended that school for 4 years now, and my last day is May 13th, 2011....
