Pioneer Valley Montessori School (PVMS) serves children 18 months old through sixth grade. Located at 1524 Parker Street in the Sixteen Acres neighborhood of Springfield, PVMS opened in 1964 as a single classroom school and expanded between 1971 and 1986.
The school holds accreditation from the American Montessori Society, Montessori Schools of Massachusetts, NAEYC and the Association of Independent Schools in New England.
PVMS has programs for toddlers ages 18 months to two years, nine months, preschool and elementary through grade six. Students in grades one through three and grades four through six interact in multi-age classrooms.
Following the Montessori practice, students drive their learning with teacher support. In addition to standard courses, students also have classes in art, Spanish, music and physical education. Before and after-school care is also available.
