This is a great boarding school with lots of activities - you will never get bored or have any free time. Teachers and dorm parents are the best because they really do try their best to care for their students and also give them the support they need.

The Stony Brook School is a unique place. I don't mean that as a positive thing necessarily. Maybe peculiar is a better word. It certainly has top-tier academics, with extensive offerings in both STEM and Humanities/Social Science subjects. The teachers are, for the most part, very engaged with students, and it's clear that the admin and counselors aren't "neglectful" in any traditional sense of the word. However, as far as clubs and organizations go, the school is lacking. There isn't much for students, who aren't already involved in "leadership positions," to be part of (although this does seem to be changing this year, kudos to the school.) And, while the school is pretty diverse in terms of race and national origin, it's still effectively a school for rich, or at least comfortably upper-middle class, kids, and it's difficult to imagine someone who isn't as well-off feeling completely comfortable around here. Character before career, except lazy rich kids will find ways to cheat.

Great school that provides a lot of opportunities for international students. I am from Jamaica and have found this school alto be a life changing experience for the better. I am currently a student at SBS and the community is what makes it special. I love all the teachers and how much they help us. International festival and Chinese new year along with many other celebrations are one of the best I have ever seen at any school. And the musicals and theatrics of the school are ones that are so special. I love that they have many grand pianos too.

Im a freshman here, and I had my doubts about this school. But most of the negative reviews are about overworking students and forcing people to convert to Christianity. Most of these allegations are dated. I myself am not Christian but they are perfectly fine with that. This school has changed a lo...

Many of the teacher aren't qualified to teach. The academic program is not good. They discriminate against other religions. If you are caught with your shirt untucked, students take unnecessary detention on a Saturday. Since this school has a lot of sports activities and give lots of homework, the s...

A wonderful experience for my kids. The education is top notch and the teachers are kind, attentive, and capable. The college counseling is especially strong and students consistently get into top schools. Leadership is competent and communicative.
