Opened in 1971, Carminati Elementary is a public school serving about 350 children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade in the Tempe Elementary School District. Here, the faculty and staff strive to help students develop academically, emotionally, socially, and behaviorally, making Carminati a place, as the school’s motto goes, “where all kids count.” To help every child prepare for the 21st century, the school starts with one-to-one technology and provides all students with either iPads or Chromebooks for use in the classroom. Carminati also offers a world language program where students can take lessons via Rosetta Stone to learn French, German, Italian, Spanish or other languages through weekly classes. As for other special programs, Carminate is the only school in its district to offer additional services to hearing-imparied students, including instruction with a hearing-impaired teacher. Plus, the school is only one of two in the district to house an inclusion program for special education students. Advanced students also can excel with opportunities through the gifted education program. When it comes to extracurriculars, the City of Tempe hosts a before- and after-school child care program where kids can stay engaged in a number of activities, from STEM projects to homework time. Plus, upper grades can compete in kickball, soccer or basketball. And to ensure the well-being of all children, an onsite nurse and counselor are available for students every school day at Carminati Elementary.

As much as I want to support my child's education provider, the facility, staff and program are lacking. The teachers have far to many kids, staff mopes around clinging to their coffee's in one hand, and keys in another; not engaging in the children around them. Admin staff is complacent and defensi...

The school looks nice on the outside, but unfortunately, as much as we wanted to like this school, it's been one thing after another that is one star worthy. The staff is overwhelmed and just checked out. The other students come with their own set of issues from off campus, and it comes right into t...

My children currently are enrolled in this school. My daughter is in the second grade and my son is in the fourth . My daughter experienced sexual harassment ( vulgar obscene language and someone touched her private area). After my daughter told her teacher. The teacher did not contact me. My daught...

This school is great when it comes to education and the teachers but NORMA in the front office is so rude and really needs to measure her comments. She can be very sarcastic and rude. I avoid going to the front office just so I don’t have to encounter her and other parents have said the same.
