One of the eight high schools in the Tempe School District, Tempe High School has about 1,700 students. Its reading scores and graduation rates are higher than the Arizona averages, according to Public School Review. Tempe High School runs from ninth to 12th grades. Special academic opportunities include the renowned and challenging International Baccalaureate college-prep curriculum and the Health Occupation Preparatory Education (HOPE) Academy, which partners with local companies to prepare students for medical careers. The student population is known as the Buffaloes, and the school has a long history — as it has expanded and transformed to meet the needs of today’s students. Founded in 1907, the campus is very different from its early days and now boasts its own football stadium. The Tempe High School marching band played for former President Bill Clinton and performed at the Rose Bowl Parade. The school was also featured in Seventeen Magazine. Famous graduates include NFL football players, a former Tempe mayor, a CNN journalist and a local land developer and philanthropist. A wide range of special-interest clubs and extracurricular activities enable students to pursue their passions.

I think the best part of Tempe High School was the IB program. I was constantly surrounded by students who had the same dreams as me, which only encouraged and motivated me more.

Tempe High School is a school full of diversity that coexists peacefully. The school is accessible to disabled people and has a program for kids with special needs. Overall, Tempe High School is dedicated to providing for academics and inclusion for everyone.
