The school accepts students from all over Tulsa and often has a waiting list of at least 100 students. Since Deborah Brown is state funded, teachers can create individualized curriculums that are well-suited to help their students succeed. Students learn the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, science, social studies and history. They also participate in physical education and fitness to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Each classroom is connected to the internet and includes different learning activities. The goal of Deborah Brown Community School is not only to create academically high-achieving students, but also to improve their quality of life, inspire excitement and ambition to become lifelong learners, and strengthen family bonds through education. The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
