Founded in 2017 as a partnership between the Met Cares Foundation and Tulsa Public Schools, Greenwood Leadership Academy strives to provide a broad education to enhance the academic and social lives of its students in North Tulsa. The academy values innovation, commitment, accountability, respect and excellence. Greenwood Leadership Academy enrolls over 200 students from prekindergarten through fifth grade with focus areas in scholarship, entrepreneurship, technology and citizenship. The school possesses a distinguished culture through school colors, classroom environment and school assignments. The school colors, navy, gray and white, represent devotion to the community, structure and stability and new beginnings. Students experience strongly structured days. Classroom etiquette and school assignments are clearly communicated, allowing students to learn skills for success such as respect and responsibility. Among its achievements, Greenwood Leadership Academy boasts high enrollment and attendance rates. With an emphasis on Black Excellence and welcoming everyone from any background, Greenwood Leadership Academy gives students a step towards being leaders of the future.
