This prestigious award is given to those schools that authenticate character initiatives in their school to help student become better citizens and future leaders. The school enrolls approximately 450 students, prekindergarten to fifth grade. Highly rated, the school ranked in the top 5 percent of all Alabama schools, and its student-teacher ratio is 14 to 1, lower than the state’s average. It is close to many surrounding neighborhoods in the Vestavia Hills area. Along with a traditional curriculum, Cahaba Heights has a gifted education program, and is an Alabama Reading Initiative site, meaning that their Language Arts instruction goes beyond the norm, including additional reading series meant to enhance learning. Their active arts education program inspires students to participate in the arts – with over 50 art classes to choose from. The school’s Extended Day Program is an after-school learning environment with Red Cross training site directors on campus. Their Exceptional Education program is designed for children with special needs and is geared toward each child’s specific requirements in terms of their learning environment. All Vestavia Schools have partnerships with various organizations to help faculty develop leadership skills. Technological literacy is stressed in order for children to learn the most advanced digital tools to inspire creative problem solving. The school’s i-Ready online program is designed for improving reading and math skills on an individual basis. Part of the Vestavia Hills City School district, the Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights School mission is for each child to “learn without limits.”

We have a fifth grader and kindergartner at Cahaba Heights and we love the school. The teachers are all amazing. Our fifth grader has been there since she was in kindergarten and we haven’t had a bad experience. Our youngest daughter actually had a small hole in her eardrum that affected her hearing...

This school has been so wonderful that both me and my child have gotten more involved than I would have ever imagined - with both school activities and our community. The teachers and staff are wonderful and the school itself is amazing. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
