GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Waco High School is not as bad as it seems for individual wise as long as you hang around the right people. Some teachers are not very thorough with their teaching due to students not caring. However, as long as you do the higher-level classes (ap, pre-ap, dual credit) and involve yourself in the fine arts (especially marching band), you will find a great community like a diamond in the rough.

So far the experience has been very off and on. Freshman year was horrible and came with a lot of unsafe situations. This along with my ap classes and college classes was rough. Then sophomore year was even worse. That year there were lot of fights, gun threats, restless nights, etc. As for this year things have really taken a turn. Our new principal has made many great efforts and helped improve everything.

Most of the staff seems like they are there to collect a check and checked out. You can tell which staff members are invested. Short staffed. UnorganizedWhat happened to the passion and psychology of teaching?Fights breaking out right in front of me and police just watching. No attempt to stop or st...

Deplorable. I believe it is better if a student student is academically gifted & is in all pre-AP or AP classes. My child is not in these classes, but shouldn't I have expectations that my child's education is just as important? In regular classes, my student is absolutely not being prepared to atte...

My two graduates from Waco High have been highly successful at one of Texas' most rigorous colleges. We had a great experience at Waco High.

Let's face it, every school has its problems. Waco's are just exploited by a very biased media. Here's the facts: the real world isn't perfect. It's filled with challenges and hardships that require thinking on your toes and toughening up. Waco prepares you for that better than any school in the are...
