GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I like how Hawaii Technology Academy (HTA) prepares the high school students for college. HTA has one semester courses that equals one full school year and most of the time the students have to do their assignments independently. One situation I find in HTA is not being fully inclusive for religion. The school mostly focuses on LGBTQ+ community but rarely have respect to those who are religious. I would like for HTA to be inclusive about religion and to be cautious of what they say that will not disrespect any religion.

Some of my best experiences at Hawaii Technology Academy is meeting my 2 closest friends. I got to meet a lot of new people and teachers as well. The teachers at Hawaii Technology Academy are very welcoming and helpful. I like how my school is a blended learning school where you have the choice to do fully virtual classes or come to school in person. Some of the worst parts is when I needed help with my college search I emailed one of our former counselor at the time and she never got back to me. Overall, I think that my school has a very safe and friendly enviroment.

HTA is very different from the other schools I have attended, and it works. I enjoy the semester-long classes because it allows me to possibly earn more credits during a school year than what a normal public school offers. As someone who is independent, I enjoy the independent study days that we get because it allows me to work at my own pace so I don't become stressed or overwhelmed with my school work. I would like to see more electives that deal with the fine arts. As a student who is looking to go to college for those things, it would be beneficial to have more than 3 electives that can be completed in one year.

We love this school! I am soooo glad my daughter got into HTA. She had kindergarten at a regular public school. I knew I had to find something different, her kindergarten experience was so sad with no art, music, and wasn't able to play on a real playground. When she got into HTA for 1st grade she f...

During my time at HTA, I had many good experiences and interesting ones. Coming from a school that offered AVID and other college/career programs, I was surprised to see that HTA was almost completely devoid of these kinds of courses. In addition to this, they didn't practice AVID or college/career...

Way too much online. I feel that students are not learning how a school should be! It doesn’t make sense why people go here!

If your student had learning differences this is not the school. There are some great teachers, however like another review pointed out, principal is unethical.
