For more than 60 years, Chaminade College Preparatory School has served high school students in the West Hills neighborhood. The Catholic high school campus is in West Hills, while the nearby middle school is a 7-mile drive away in Chatsworth. High school students who attend Chaminade are encouraged to learn through Catholic and Marianist traditions of living faith, academic excellence, and moral responsibility. A college-preparatory curriculum sets students up for higher education success. Chaminade high school students are offered 28 AP subjects, a four-year college counseling experience, critical thinking and writing emphasis, and student-centered instruction. The STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) curriculum, including coding and AP science electives, allows students to develop science-based skills. Fine arts programs, like ballet, drama and film, encourage artistic expression. Students receive a faith-based education, and community service is a big part of the Chaminade culture. School spirit is cultivated through pep rallies, sports and student assemblies. Events, such as Founders Day, Homecoming, and Family Fun Night, are widely anticipated and attended by the Chaminade community.

The best part of Chaminade is it is a "true" college prep school. Their teaching style is more reasoning thinking skills then just studying and memorizing for a test.

Chaminade is a great school for students that are willing to utilize the resources provided by the school. The teachers always went above and beyond with office hours and they're willingness to work with kids and the school was just very supportive in general.

What I like about Chaminade is the academics. They really push their students to be their best and achieve the greatest. As a senior, the college process was really stressful but the counseling services are really good. I got a lot of help from my counselor when it came to colleges and they even gave a boot camp on how to apply to the UC apps and the Common App (though you had to pay for it [bootcamp], it was well worth it for me). The teachers and staff are quite nice. The cafeteria food is good quality for high school. The community is pretty welcoming. Overall my time here was great.

School is ok. It's actually overrated. Sports are ok but don't play basketball because it's "Daddy Ball". Coaches have kids on the team (not that talented) and they play over other kids that are better. Safety is above average. It's actually a smaller school than it seems.

Both of my kids attended the middle and high school. While the middle school (under the direction of Mr. Valentine) is exceptional. The high school fall short of that experience. They need to focus more on quality of teachers (math especially) and focus more on the big picture, not the pettiness of...

While I'd love to give a positive review of this school, I've got to say, I'm fairly disappointed as to how things have been handled there by the administration. They have a history of cancelling AP exams without letting the student know until the last minute (despite saying that they allow students...
