GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

West Islip High School provides a well rounded education for anyone looking to learn. The counselors are amazing and help walk you through the high school and college application process. The school offers tons of different college level, AP and IB classes.

Excellent all around. Incredible music department and athletics, but clubs and activities for anyone. They push IB onto students but offer both AP and IB; my AP professors more than prepared me for the academic demands of college and I graduated high school and was automatically a sophomore in college thanks to the AP program. Lots of support, interesting and demanding classes, and tons of extracurriculars. 10/10

The teachers care. The principal really shows them what is important to focus on. Parents in this area are all very involved with the success of the children and also support the teachers. Kids for the most part are very kind and overall great kids.
