GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Most if not all of the teachers are very dedicated to their jobs and really strive for the success of their students. If you are ever falling behind they always have designated days in which they stay after school for help. If that doesn't work they are very accommodating to your time. The only negative parts would be the very strict hall sweeps they enforce.

My overall experience at the high school was more good than bad which is good enough for me, the curriculum and teachers were easy to get down with and managed to have good academic standing when graduating the high school, overall the school when i was attending had great teachers who cared and gave it their all, and if you reciprocated it back you'd guarantee yourself exquisite results.

What I like about Gorton High School is the diversity. There's different people with different backgrounds so you'll never feel left out. Something I want to be changed is the architecture of the building. It's very old and not much has changed. Even though I'm in my last year, I think the other grades should get to experience that change.

I'm aware there are good schools and bad schools but what I know about Gordon HS is revolting to see how people are putting it down. If your child is lazy and does not want to do, the teachers will be annoyed and frustrated. My son has been attending Gordon and is graduating this year. He is an hono...

Gorton is a horrible school and has been for the past twenty years. It seems to be getting worse and worse. The teachers are lazy and rude. They show lack of respect towards students. The students are nasty, there is a lot of bullying and fights. No one pays attention in class - it is hard to learn...

Gorton was a great school when I went but sadly due to the horrible run Yonkers Education System, Gorton does not receive, lets say "talented students" anymore, like Yonkers High School and maybe Saunders receive. The last great freshman class came in the Fall of 2003, the school and administration...
