South Amarillo community with accessible price points
South Lawn is an established south Amarillo neighborhood resting along Interstate 27. The community provides accessible prices and is in the highly rated Amarillo Independent School District. Its location along I-27 and some main thoroughfares open all the city’s amenities to potential homebuyers. “It’s an older area,” says Jinger White, a Realtor with ERA Courtyard Real Estate with nearly 20 years of experience in the Amarillo market. “South Lawn provides price points for first-time buyers and investors, who fix houses and flip or rent them."

Ranch-style houses and bungalows on tidy lots
Brick ranch-style houses and bungalows range from around 900 to 1,300 square feet. While some properties are from the early 2000s, most homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s. Compact lots are spaced tightly together and have tidy front yards, fenced-in backyards and a garage. Houses are separated from neighborhood streets by a sidewalk that winds through the community. Prices range from $110,000 to $275,000, with the larger homes costing more. The accessible price points make this an attractive place for investors to buy and flip homes or put them up for rent. “Our market is moving slower right now,” White says. “Showings seem to be down, but its stable. It's not moving nearly as fast as it was over the last three years.”
The homes in South Lawn are arranged in traditional, orderly rows.

Potential severe weather risks of Amarillo
Amarillo’s location in the Texas Panhandle ensures that it experiences all four seasons, but summer days routinely exceed 100 degrees and winter temperatures dip below freezing. The city is also at risk for severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding and wildfires. The southeast corner of South Lawn between Shasta and Trinchera drives is at an increased risk for flooding, and some federal lenders may require flood insurance.
