Homely Aurora streets
Winding along these streets are largely ranch-style and split-level homes, many of which have cross-gabled details. Non-traditional colors add a touch of vibrancy to the streets, with several homes standing out in bright red or teal. “The heart of the neighborhood is really the north-south corridor,” says Realtor Jason Morris of eXp Realty, host of the Living in Aurora Colorado YouTube channel. As one crosses over the Toll Gate Creek Trail into the east side of the community, “homes are a little newer and bigger, built primarily in the late 1970s and early 1980s,” Morris notes. All of Kingsborough’s homes sport driveways and large garages where residents can park vehicles or store winter gear. Lot sizes average about 6,000 square feet, leaving plenty of room for backyard patios or extended gardens. Most of the neighborhood lands in the $400,000 to $500,000 price range, although homes on larger lots or those on the eastern corridor can creep into the mid-$500,000 range.

Parks fit for an Olympian
Matching the vibrancy of its streets, Kingsborough’s parks delight athletes with the sheer number of recreational options. At Olympic Park, visitors can catch local leagues on the baseball field or join a friendly match on the volleyball court. Residents also have access to the Cherry Creek Spillway Trail, which they can follow south all the way to the massive Cherry Creek State Park. “This is definitely an outdoorsy community,” Morris says. “You can pretty much get anywhere you want around the Denver metro with a bike.” If residents have a bike, they can head north from Olympic Park to take a spin around the bicycle ramps and BMX track at Wheel Park. No matter what kind of wheels, locals can get their game on here, whether working on a new trick at the concrete skate park or practicing slapshots on the inline hockey rink. After working up a sweat, park patrons can cool off under the central picnic shelter.

Longstanding local institutions
After a few hours at the park, locals can decompress with friends over a pint at Sheabeen Irish Pub, the oldest Irish Pub in the Denver metro area. Family-owned since 1989, Sheabeen offers a cozy place to watch the game or dine on the patio, and guests might even catch the area’s leading pipe band performing on the weekend — a truly Irish experience. If locals want to go Greek instead, they can dive into homemade specialties at Athenian Restaurant, which has served the community for over 20 years. For barbecue at home, locals can pick up a fresh steak and a new bottle of sauce from Sam’s Meats, the king of local butchers, which has offered custom cuts for 46 years. Feeling adventurous? This is one of the only butchers in Colorado where patrons can get exotic meats like Colorado’s Himalayan yak steaks. Additional groceries can be snagged from King Soopers for a one-of-a-kind dinner.
