Cape Cods, split-levels and ranch-style homes built in the 1950s and 60s are popular throughout the neighborhood and have sold for between $450,000 and $900,000. Larger and more spacious colonials and new-traditional homes are also prevalent in the neighborhood and have sold for between $700,000 and $1.4 million. While sidewalks line some streets of Berkeley Heights, it is more of a car-dependent community, reflected by its 43 out of 100 Walk Score. As for crime, Berkeley Heights is considered a safe neighborhood as the CAP Index gave it a 1 out of 10 Crime Score, the lowest score a neighborhood can receive.
