Gated community in the Golf Capital of the World
At Bermuda Dunes Country Club, green fairways and freshwater lakes lie just outside the back door. This popular gated community has a rich history of Hollywood stars who frequented the historic club dating back to the late 1950s. In fact, golf pros like Arnold Palmer have won classic games at Bermuda Dunes Country Club. Golf resorts like this one have made Palm Desert an international hotbed for golfing, leading some to call it the “Golf Capital of the World.”
Today, the neighborhood “is for everybody, but it sees a lot of older residents because of the golf club, amenities and club house,” says Brandy Nelson, Executive Director of Equity Union Real Estate with over 20 years of experience. Additionally, its “wide streets to ride your bike around, with huge lots and nearby golf course, makes it a great place for young families,” says local Realtor Mark Turner with fifteen years of experience. Bermuda Dunes Country Club offers quiet, resort-style living catered to those who love golf.
Golfing and getting outside
The golf course was designed to be wide enough for the average golfer, but long enough to challenge the professionals. Fairways are complimented by views of the snow-capped San Jacinto Mountains. The expansive clubhouse offers athletic facilities, casual and upscale dining and live music on Fridays. Just outside the neighborhood gates, locals can play volleyball at Joe Mann Park or cool off at Palm Desert Aquatic Center. For a stroll in the sunshine, Freedom Park contains desert foliage, athletic fields and monuments dedicated to U.S. veterans.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
Every April, the region swells in population during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which takes place just down the road. Interstate 10 gets congested during this time, as people flock to see live performances from famous artists like Beyoncé and Harry Styles.
Casual and upscale shopping and dining
Bermuda Dunes Country Club is primarily made up of residences and the golf course, but there is a shopping center at the northwestern corner of the neighborhood. This is where residents can get a caffeine boost at Just Java Coffee and pick up groceries at Ralph’s. Otherwise, locals head to Palm Springs or to El Paseo Shopping District in Palm Desert for entertainment and restaurants. Luxury brand retail stores like Louis Vuitton line El Paseo, as well as a number of restaurants. When it comes to elegant dining, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood offers lobster tails and Mastro’s Steakhouse serves filets and pork chops.
Luxury homes on the golf course
Locals can bike or stroll down the wide neighborhood streets lined with palm trees and desert foliage. Bermuda Dunes Country Club offers an array of luxurious single-family homes: “They’re not cookie cutter; they all look different,” Nelson says. However, many styles contain elements of the Spanish Colonial Revival, like the red clay roof tiles. Prices range from about $390,000 to nearly $3 million. Condo prices range from about $300,000 to $620,000.
Proximity to Interstate 10
Once outside the neighborhood, locals get around by car. Interstate 10 borders Bermuda Dunes Country Club to the north. John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital is a short 5-mile drive away. Residents have two convenient options for air travel: Bermuda Dunes Airport, also known as Crown Aero, borders the neighborhood. Even though it’s so close, residents don’t have anything to worry about because the two runways abide by noise abatement guidelines. A slightly larger airport, Palm Springs International, is about 16 miles up I-10.
Desert Sands Unified School District
Students are served by nearby schools like James Monroe Elementary, rated A on Niche and Colonel Mitchell Page Middle School, rated B. Students are then funneled to high schools like La Quinta High School, an International Baccalaureate School offering specialized classes in fields like multimedia journalism and the culinary arts. La Quinta High is rated A-minus.
Gated security
Bermuda Dunes Country Club has a low crime score, according to the CAP Index. It has 24/7 gated security.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
