With a long history of Irish influence, South Abbott features a different pub on seemingly every corner and serves as a growing destination for its nightlife and walkability.
South Abbott is mostly residential with some retail located on Abbott Road.

But once one goes up, it's multiple offers in a day," says local Broker Jason Jurek of Own NY Real Estate, who operates specifically in the Buffalo area. "There's no commercial space on McKinley at all. It's 100% residential aside from a couple of churches, but that's the place where everybody wants to be."

Brick Oven Bistro is a neighborhood favorite for its specialty pizzas and sandwiches. Just down the street on Abbott Road is Imperial Pizza, where locals can enjoy a slice and a cold beer while catching the big game. Basketball, botanical gardens, and basilicas
Kids flock to Dorrance Park after school to play basketball on the outdoor court while the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens sit a mile to the west — a popular area attraction thanks to its wide range of flora and enormous, 67-foot-tall dome. History buffs can also take in the beauty of Our Lady of Victory Basilica off South Park Avenue. Cazenovia Park is a hot spot during the year's warmer months. The park contains a splash pad and hosts the weekly South Buffalo Farmers Market every Sunday from June through September.
Botanical Gardens is one of the main attractions in South Abbott year-round.

Walkable neighborhood with several bus stops
South Abbott is walkable, though residents will need a car if they work in the city. Locals can also get around on the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority bus, which includes several stops throughout the neighborhood. "You're at the direct center between Abbott and South Park, and both are walkable," Jurek says. "The streets are only about a half-mile between the two, so just a half-mile in either direction, you've got everything you need."
There are bus lines going along Abbott Road in South Abbott.
South Abbott is located just south of Cazenovia Park that offers all kind of outdoor activities.
