In Centreville, Virginia is the small community of Chalet Woods, where forested views join easily accessible shopping and dining. In Chalet Woods, locals get the walkability and convenience of suburban life mixed with the beauty and peace of rural living.

Gridded streets lead to manicured properties in Chalet Woods, where houses are equipped with neat backyards, some fully fenced-in, and well-maintained sidewalks. Chalet Woods predominantly features colonial-style houses priced between $600,000 and $800,000, with a construction period spanning from the 1980s to the 1990s. The neighborhood also boasts townhouses built in the early 1990s, with price ranges typically falling between $500,000 to $600,000. Among the traditional offerings, Chalet Woods stands out with some custom-built modern homes that can exceed $1 million, offering a diverse range of housing options for potential buyers. “This is a great location with mature trees and large lots,” says Spencer Marker, a realtor with Long & Foster Realtors in Centreville. “The houses here are built strong and sturdy and are reliable over decades.”

A draw to Chalet Woods is the high-quality schools in Centreville, including Westfield High School, ranked B+ by Niche. A student living in Chalet Woods may attend Cub Run Elementary, Ormond Stone Middle and Westfield High School. Locals cheer on the Westfield Bulldogs at volleyball, football and field hockey games on Friday nights in town.

When not in school or at work, there’s plenty to do in Chalet Woods. The nearby Recreation Cub Run Stream Valley Park has over 800 acres of trails for running, mountain biking or hiking, and a full playground for children to enjoy. “There’s a good bit of parkland and forests in the area,” says Marker, “People go out with model airplanes and drones and make an afternoon of it.” Golfers will love the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club, conveniently located near Chalet Woods. If you’d rather play pickleball, there are three outdoor asphalt courts on a lighted facility in Chalet Woods Park. During cold weather, visit the Centreville Life Time Club, where you’ll find an expansive workout floor complete with an indoor pool and basketball gym. It’s not just sports as far as community events go—the annual Fall Parade comes through Chalet Woods on Braddock Road, entertaining the community with floats and music by the Westfield High School marching band.

There’s a wide variety of dining available in Chalet Woods, including Matsu, a Japanese restaurant serving sushi and teriyaki, and Don Luis, serving authentic Mexican food and fruity margaritas. Home cooks will love the easily accessible Giant nearby, ready for a weekly grocery run. In nearby Sully Station, locals shop at Westone Plaza Mall for holiday gifts and daily essentials. There’s an Urgent Care and Sully Animal Hospital in the mall, ready to accommodate the entire family’s medical needs without going too far from home.

From hiking trails to great schools, it’s clear that Chalet Woods has a lot to offer. And being just 27 miles from DC means it’s easy to take a day trip into the city via Route 66 to see a show, sporting event, or visit museums, then head back home to Chalet Woods for a relaxing night.
