Spread across miles of forest and farmland, Pleasant Valley in Chantilly is a quiet rural community 30 minutes south of Dulles International Airport. “Most people who choose Pleasant Valley are looking for privacy,” says Gus Anthony, Team Leader of the Gus Anthony team at Pearson Smith Realty.

Colonial-style homes with brick or vinyl facades make up most of the single-family houses in this Fairfax County neighborhood. These homes typically include multi-car garages, wide driveways and large front and backyards. “Most of the homes in the area are custom built, there’s a lot of variety in the looks of the homes.” says Anthony. There are also new townhomes in the area that include brick exteriors, garages and a front yard. Properties in the neighborhood typically sell for between $700,000 to $1 million.

Pleasant Valley is served by Fairfax County Public Schools. Students may start at Virginia Run Elementary School, rated B by Niche, before transitioning to Stone Middle School, rated A-minus by Niche. Kids may then attend Westfield High School, rated A by Niche, and voted one of the top high schools for athletes in Virginia.

If you’re looking to enjoy nature, visit one of several parks in the area. Rock Hill District Park includes a fenced dog area, a multi-purpose field and ample parking, and James Mcdonnell Recreation Park gives you access to a playground, pickleball and tennis courts and a basketball court. Escape the summer heat by taking a dip in the Pleasant Valley Pool with a diving board, dedicated lap lane and a shallow end for younger children.

East Gate Marketplace has your shopping needs covered with access to Harris Teeter, Walgreens and Advanced Auto Parts. For those with green thumbs, stop by the locally owned Metro Flower Market for a wide range of wholesale flowers and growing supplies. After you finish shopping, get a bite to eat at one of several local favorites. Khan Kabob House has been serving up fine dining Pakistani dishes like lamb champ tandoori and mughaz masala for over 25 years. You can also visit Social House Kitchen & Tap for a wide assortment of local brews, classic pub dishes like beer & whiskey battered onion rings and dynamite shrimp and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pleasant Valley also has several attractions within driving distance. Practice your golf swings at either Chantilly National Golf and Country Club or Pleasant Valley Golf Club. Test your tastebuds by visiting The Winery at Bull Run to try one of their award-winning wines while learning about their winemaking process. The winery also offers a tour of the area, including their collection of over 200,000 Civil War artifacts. If you’re looking for a more family-focused attraction, visit Cox Farms to check out their produce and flower market, petting zoo and unique art installations including Foamhenge, a full-size Stonehenge replica made entirely of Styrofoam.

With its diverse homes collection, access to well-rated schools and many choices of local retailers and restaurants, Pleasant Valley is the perfect neighborhood for those looking for a peaceful, private community.
