Growing suburban developments
Back Creek Church Road's millennium mansions feature complex gabled roofs, four bedrooms, attached garages and modest manicured backyards. These modern homes were built within the last 20 years, providing buyers with a convenient turnkey move-in experience. Winding roads with maintained sidewalks make up the developments of the neighborhood's northern end, allowing residents to walk along the quiet streets free of through traffic. "It's a place that people gravitate to because it has easy access to the highway, but the traffic in-town is very minimal," notes Patty Sehorn of Urban Carolina Realtors. Back Creek Church Road home values range from $300,000 to $600,000, with a median of $400,000. In the southern part of the neighborhood, homes have more square footage and acreage and usually sell towards the high end of the range. A few Colonial and Greek Revivals peek out from the tall trees of the area, "giving the neighborhood an elite and important feeling," Sehorn says.

A thousand acres of green space
Reedy Creek Nature Center sits in the neighborhood's western corner and is the go-to spot for local outdoor activities. The land has been tended for since the 1700s, and some remnants of historical structures remain on-site. There are plenty of things to do at the 927-acre forested preserve. Baseball and Cricket fields, a sizeable playground and picnic shelters are scattered among the miles of heavily wooded hiking trails. Residents with green thumbs can also take up a plot at the Reedy Creek Community Garden, which has soil perfect for growing seasonal tomatoes and lettuce. Hodges Family Farm is another spot for locals to gather seasonally. The working farm holds Prime Market, a farmers' market, every Saturday in summer and fall. They also have a notable pumpkin patch event in the fall, bringing in families from many surrounding neighborhoods.
