Lakeside living made accessible, close to downtown Cleveland

Edgewater, a diverse neighborhood sharing its name with the adjacent Edgewater Park, offers residents walkable access to Lake Erie's beaches. Renters make up 40% of the community, which features a mix of multifamily units, century-old mansions, and single-family homes just a block from the park, home to the Cleveland Script Sign. “The neighborhood is a good mix of multifamily and owner-occupied properties. It is also very walkable, close to the shores of Lake Erie, Edgewater Park, and has easy access to downtown and East Cleveland,” says Mike Anter, a Realtor at JAMM Real Estate Company. Clifton Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in greater Cleveland, divides Edgewater into two sections. The northern area is dominated by single-family Colonial Revival homes, while the southern part features a mix of converted apartments, single-family homes, and lakeside mansions.

Brick Colonial Revival mansions sit across from Lake Erie

Located just outside the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, Edgewater is a walkable community with immediate access to Lake Erie and nearby areas, including the Gordon Square Arts District. It also borders Lakewood, where housing prices are typically higher. “Prices tend to be lower than in your Lakewood market, but they have been trending up steadily in the last few years,” says Mike Anter, a Realtor at JAMM Real Estate Company. Home prices vary, with Colonial Revival homes ranging from $200,000 to $400,000 and lakefront properties priced between $600,000 and $1 million. “The homes right on the lake are where you’ll find those million-dollar Colonials or even Victorian homes, offering direct views of the water,” says Realtor Payton.

Commuting to Hopkins International Airport is a breeze

The Red Line, a heavy rail service, provides a one-way route connecting locals to Hopkins International Airport Station in about 25 minutes and was the first rapid transit system in the Northern Hemisphere to link downtown to an airport. Interstate 90, the nearest major highway, is two miles from the neighborhood, while MetroHealth Hospital and downtown Cleveland are both four miles away.

In Edgewater, everybody gets along with one another, and the people are all very friendly. It's such a nice place to live and have your children grow up. As a child growing up there, we would always have backyard hang-outs and barbeques with all the neighbors and play games. It was so much fun getting to be surrounded with genuine love from your close community and getting to know the people you're neighbors with. It was a very safe meighborhood as well. Little to no crime, and everyone felt really safe.
