A small city with suburban streets
Surrounded by widely used nature preserves and tucked on the cusp of the trendy village of La Grange, Countryside offers a small, suburban enclave with lower taxes than neighboring communities. “The draw to Countryside is really the proximity to the excitement in neighboring La Grange and the easy access to nearby interstates,” says Catherine Dugan LaBelle, a broker with Baird & Warner, who has nearly 20 years of experience and is a former resident. Less than 20 miles from downtown Chicago, Countryside offers an intimate community full of local eateries, small town events, and nearby green spaces to escape the hustle and bustle of South La Grange Road.

Ranch-style homes, Cape Cods and more
Residential streets lined with various architectural styles dating back to the 1950s are dotted throughout the community. Prospective homebuyers can find gems like a slate blue Cape Cod to modest ranch-style homes, Bi-Levels and newer, traditional homes. The median sales price for a single-family home is just under $400,000. Prices for homes such as a Cape Cod or rambler —which feature interior renovations— can range between the $400,000s and $500,000s. Countryside also caters to those who prefer condominium living, with average prices for units around $150,000. On the higher end, traditional brick homes built after the 2000s offer more contemporary, open-concept floor plans, ranging from the $700,000s to just under $1 million.
