A quiet rural community
Dansville is a rural community centrally located to multiple routes. With a population of less than 600, Dansville embodies a small-town feel. “There’s literally only stop signs. There are no traffic lights,” says Amber Kennel, a realtor with Howard Hanna Real Estate Executives. “There are sidewalks, but there is no where to walk to. There’s a library, restaurant, and post office. It’s definitely a village.” Homebuyers will meet their neighbors quickly and soon feel like they’re family. “Dansville is a super small community,” Kennell says. “There’s a lot of community involvement, and everyone knows each other. Everyone is helping one another.”

The famous Freedom Festival
The Memorial Freedom Festival is an annual event held in Dansville. “We have the biggest Memorial Day parade. They have a lot of attendees,” Kennell says. “They have a large parade procession. Lots of tractors and people in their cars.” Aside from the big parade, attendees can enjoy touch-a-truck, food, live music, and a cornhole contest. Seven Gables Road is also an attraction, as it’s alleged to be one of the most haunted streets in Michigan. Red gates will stop locals who travel or hike along this dirt road. Legends have it that a woman who practiced witchcraft cursed the land behind the gates. While this legend has no evidence to back it as true, locals say it’s an eerie spot to be after dark.

Interstates 96 and 94 can take residents to Detroit, both 83-mile drives.
