Classical style meets contemporary living in this thriving Denver community
Named for its centerpiece park, Platt Park is cherished by residents for its diverse houses, excellent schools and famous shopping district. The area’s prime location and collection of Denver hot spots have made it a destination for young professionals. “You’re near a lot of hip spots out there,“ says Jeff Galligan, broker and owner at Harvey Park Realty. Galligan has sold homes in the greater Denver area for almost 40 years and previously worked in the area.

Sushi Den, Antique Row and more Denver favorites
Platt Park's portion of the major commercial hub, South Broadway, is known as Antique Row. Former industrial buildings are now occupied by various shops, restaurants and businesses. Favorites like Watson & Co and The Annex offer curated antiques. Local picks such as Izakaya Den and Stella's Coffee Haus both sit close to the neighborhood’s center on South Pearl Street. Further down the street, Park Platt’s youngest residents can enjoy story time at Second Star to the Right, the neighborhood’s beloved children’s bookstore.
Sushi Den shares a space with Izakaya Den, and also offers a terrific sushi bar.

Updated Victorian homes, foursquares and contemporary housing
Platt Park’s streets are lined with a treasure trove of eclectic and modern styles. “You’ve got a lot of older houses out there, built near the turn of the century,” Galligan says. "Very upscale stuff." Rows of Victorian gable-front homes, often adorned with colorful fish scale shingles, can be found on South Pennsylvania Street. Spanish Revivals with terracotta-tiled roofs pop up among more common Denver Squares and Craftsman bungalows. Modern renovations and contemporary builds, like those in Platt Park Townhomes, are also available. Prices can range from about $400,000 for a small condo up to more than $2 million for large, newly built homes. Most of the area’s homes sell for between $800,000 and $1 million and typically stay on the market for about two weeks.

The weather is great. Its sunny 300 days a year, the grass is green due to a good amount of rainfall, and there is little risk of significantly damaging natural disasters. The snow in the winter is actually quite beautiful, and because of th every sunny climate, snow doesn't stick around for too long.

The restaurants and bars in the area are incredible. It is some of the highest regarded food in the city, and the drinks are just the same. Not only is there great dinner places, but great brunch places and coffee shops. You can get anything from southern comfort food, to sushi, to bar food.

There is a lot of variety, but for the most part it is on the slightly more expensive side.
