Walkable neighborhood with a suburban lifestyle
Westgold Meadows is a peaceful suburban community surrounded by gorgeous mountain views. Only 9 miles southwest of Lakewood, the subdivision’s streets are filled with spacious homes and greenbelt trails that contribute to the neighborhood’s walkability. "It's a nice, quiet neighborhood to live in for families. There are a decent amount of parks in the area, and it's within close proximity to the mountains,” says Dan Riss, a team leader and associate broker with RE/MAX Professionals, who has almost 10 years of experience. The voluntary Westgold Meadows Homeowner’s Association comes with amenities and planned events.

Single-family HOA housing
Westgold Meadows’ wide residential streets are lined with spacious properties that have concrete driveways and landscaped lawns. Two-story Craftsman-style homes make up a majority of the housing options, with their attached garages, small front porches and brick or stone accents. These properties usually range from 1,500 to 2,800 square feet and cost $550,000 to $700,000. There are also a handful of contemporary single-story homes for a similar size and price. Many homes in the neighborhood are complemented by tall fences that give homeowners privacy and security for their spacious backyards. According to the CAP Index, Westgold Meadows receives a crime score of two out of 10, which is significantly lower than the national average of four and points to a well-cared-for community. Members of the HOA have access to the community’s pool and tennis courts. For alternative housing options, buyers can look into the modern condos in the neighborhood. These properties are roughly 1,000 to 1,300 square feet for $200,000 to $400,000.

Exploring the Foothills’ greenbelts and parks
Keeping an active lifestyle is easy in Westgold Meadows, with its numerous greenspaces and walking paths. The Country West Greenbelt trail meanders behind many of the homes along West Arlington Avenue and takes people past a reservoir prime for fishing. The trail continues east, connecting with other paths going into Sunrise Creek Park. The Bobby Hyatt Jr. Memorial Park is west of the Greenbelt. Despite being a mostly undeveloped open space, the park has a gravel path and a beautiful clear view of the mountains. Sergeant Timothy M. Mossbrucker Memorial Park is a larger greenspace in the area, with its grassy field and picnic shelter. Children can explore the bright yellow and blue playset or take on the climbing wall. Only 10 miles to the west, the Rocky Mountains offer unlimited outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, camping, wildlife viewing and more.

Main streets with retail areas
Since Westgold Meadows is primarily residential, retail and dining are found along the main streets surrounding the neighborhood. “You’ll find most of your shopping on Bowles Avenue or Wadsworth Boulevard. They’re all mostly strip malls with quite a few stores and restaurants,” Riss says. Foothill Green is a shopping center that fits the script. Within it, Lynn’s Tea Shop & Café has a variety of beverages and bakery treats that can jumpstart any day. For something more adult, The Lucky Mutt is an American pub with craft beer and bar food. Additionally, 5280 Sportswear sells team apparel and spirit wear. Coal Mine Center is a retail area 2 miles south of the neighborhood and includes locally owned businesses like Bowles Café, a breakfast restaurant serving Czech-inspired dishes, and Antonio’s Neighborhood Café, for Italian cuisine. Further down is a Walmart Supercenter. At the intersection of Simms Street and Bellview Avenue, there’s a Walgreens and Goodwill.
