Pioneer Park features late 20th century ranch styles

Sidewalks line the roads and cul-de-sacs of this residential neighborhood. Single-family properties built in the late 20th century sit on manicured, grassy lawns, sometimes accented with tall trees. Ranch-style homes are common, as are split-levels, split-foyers and three and four-bedroom bilevels. “It’s a very affordable area,” Tran says. Prices typically fall between $175,000 and $250,000, although for $150,000, homebuyers can find a two-bedroom duplex in a ranch style or bilevel house.

Pioneer Park storm preparedness

The greater Des Moines area, including Pioneer Park, is at a higher risk during severe weather than the surrounding counties, especially during tornados and strong winds, because it has less natural resistance to wind. Residents should prepare by identifying safe zones in their homes and ensuring they have a stocked emergency kit. The Iowa Methodist Medical Center is about 4 miles away and is one of two Level I Trauma Centers in the state.

I love shoping locally. The locat grocery stores and farmers markets are great at providing us with fresh produce and friendly faces. I love buying unique clothes from the smaller more local stores because they are usually cheeper and way better looking than the normal stuff you would get at the regular department stores.
