Curtin is a rural community in Drain, a city of about 1,000 residents. It’s the kind of place where cattle and horses roam on farmland, where people live on ranches and where they volunteer to serve in the local fire department. Interstate 5, which is about 15 minutes down Oregon Route 38, links the country community with larger cities and beaches. “You’re 45 minutes east from the Oregon coast, 45 minutes south from Eugene and 45 minutes north from Roseburg,” says Pearl Hergert Heaton, a Realtor with EXP Realty who has been selling homes in the area for nearly a decade. “It’s pretty well situated.”
