A walkable, dynamic community
Downtown Dunedin is known for its vibrant Main Street, full of colorfully decorated restaurants and boutique shops. "The area is becoming increasingly popular because of the walkability and available activity," says Lynda Leida-Goldsmith, Realtor for 31 years with Coldwell Banker Residential in Dunedin. "This has led to rising prices in the suburban communities and waterfront homes." The neighborhood's suburban communities are full of greenery, giving them a relaxed atmosphere less than a mile walk from endless activity on Main Street. Whether living on the Saint Joseph's Sound or in a condo downtown, residents can enjoy the waterfront views just a short walk from all the shopping and dining.

Colorful buildings and murals on Main Street
The heart of Downtown Dunedin is Main Street, a long strip of shops and restaurants. Brightly colored buildings, murals and art installations showcase the area's creative vibe. With so many options, it's easy to spend a whole day popping into shops like Roxie K. Boutique and grabbing a bite at vibrant restaurants like Casa Tina Mexican. Beat the heat with an ice cream cone from Strachan's, and remember to get a scoop for the pups at Salty Paws. For a romantic date night with a view of the sound, make a reservation at Bon Appetit, a fine dining establishment at the end of Dunedin Pier. For general grocery needs, there's a Publix 2 miles east.

Condos, single-family homes and mansions
The streets here follow a grid pattern, with sidewalks leading residents to the action on Main Street. Suburban communities north of Main Street have a laid-back Floridian feel, with palm trees and far-reaching live oaks draped with Spanish moss lining the streets. The bungalow homes here range from a 1940s three-bedroom for $360,000 to a brand-new three-bedroom for $815,000. "The condos near Main Street and on the waterfront have become more desirable for their convenient location," Leida-Goldsmith says. Near Main Street, condos range from a three-bedroom built in the 2000s for $625,000 to a new three-bedroom for $760,000. Near the water, two-bedroom units built in the 1970s can be found for $460,000. They're not on the market often, but the expansive five-to-seven-bedroom waterfront mansions here start around $1.6 million and rise north of $4 million. These homes have large driveways and sprawling, secluded yards with private docks on the Saint Joseph's Sound.

A walk to the dock from Edgewater Park
Elizabeth Skinner-Jackson Park is a popular outdoor space with a playground, basketball court and picnic areas with ample tree cover providing shade from the Florida sun. Enjoy a walk with a view at Edgewater Park, which has paved walking paths leading out to the docks at Dunedin Boat Club. Pedestrians and cyclists hop on the Pinellas Trail, a wide paved pathway running through Dunedin, for a casual trip or to get from place to place in town. On a rainy day, discover the origins of this waterfront town at the Dunedin History Museum.

Friday night games at Dunedin High
Students may attend Pinellas County Schools, graded an A-minus overall by Niche. They begin at San Jose Elementary, continuing to Dunedin Highland Middle School, both rated a B-plus. They round out their education at Dunedin High, which received a B. On Friday nights, everyone in town goes to see the Falcons play. At halftime, the Highland Band takes the field wearing kilts that pay homage to the community's Scottish heritage.
