Suburban feel 20 miles from NYC

North Edison, part of the Edison Township in central New Jersey, offers natural spaces, commercial areas and residential subdivisions while maintaining a suburban feel and sitting just 20 miles west of Manhattan. “North Edison is known for being a commuter-friendly neighborhood and having great schools,” says Marcie Borke, Realtor with RE/MAX Competitive Edge, who’s been selling homes in the area for over 20 years. Edison Township's schools are some of the highest rated in the area. Niche ranks the district No. 2 in Middlesex County.

Colonial-style homes from the $700,000s

Homes in North Edison sit on quarter-acre lots with manicured front lawns and gardens. Individual subdivisions are quite walkable, as sidewalks carve pathways along the curving streets and shaded cul-de-sacs. Most of the homes here mid-20th century colonial-style and split-levels with driveways. Many also have multi-car garages. Houses tend to stay on the market for about two months and typically sell for $700,000 to $900,000. There are also larger colonial-style homes built in the 21st century with up to six bedrooms, usually selling for $1 million to $2 million. The CAP Index gives the neighborhood a crime score of 2, which is below the national average of 4.
