About Elmwood Park, NJ

A borough along the Passaic River

Within the scenic landscape of Bergen County, Elmwood Park’s locale along the Passaic River, you’ll find residents launching their boats or throwing their line out for northern pike and striped bass. Long Before colonists arrived, the Lenni Lenape Indigenous people inhabited this land, leaving a legacy of respect for nature that still permeates the area. Until the late 19th century, the land was primarily quiet countryside until industrialization began to make way, causing a rising population. In 1973, Elmwood Park was officially named after its old name, East Paterson, and became the neighborhood residents know and love today. “It’s a good town for first time homebuyers due to its attractive location to major highways, parks and the city,” says Aldo Lavorini, a Realtor with Aldo’s Realty. Whether trying a new place to eat, spending the day outdoors or taking a day trip to the city, living in Elmwood Park offers residents a peaceful, suburban lifestyle with the pleasures of the city nearby.
